How to Create a Perfectly Cozy Home
The comfort-food season, hot chocolate, and toques are back! As the cold weather sets in, we naturally start spending more time indoors, curled up under a blanket watching movies and sipping warm drinks.
The word cozy means exactly that: comfortable. But beyond its simple definition, it can also mean snug, relaxing, and warm. Sound appealing? For us, these words inspired a whole approach to cozy decor. Who wouldn’t want a space that feels snug, relaxing, and warm?
1- Textures
For a decor that inspires comfort and relaxation, don’t be afraid to mix textures. Raw wood, rattan, wool, linen — you name it. Every texture works to build a rich, layered look with depth.

These different textures can show up anywhere in a room: a cushion, a throw blanket, a basket, a wood frame, a bench, a wallpaper, and more.

2- Lighting
Another great way to warm up any space is to add more light. For example, instead of relying on your overhead fixture that lights up the whole room, prioritize smaller sources of light, like floor lamps or table lamps. You can also swap your bulbs for a warmer, more yellow light, which instantly creates a cozy effect.
Our budget-friendly tip: why not use your Christmas lights? If they’re a neutral colour, they’ll be perfect for creating a cozy decor! Drape them behind your sofa or along a shelf for a comforting effect.
3- Atmosphere
The most important element when going for cozy decor is atmosphere. You want the space to feel warm, welcoming, and relaxing. To achieve this, light some candles or diffuse essential oils. You can also put on some music and light your fireplace.

Finally, for us, the ultimate cozy decor isn’t complete without the smell of a pumpkin pie or a good meal simmering in the slow cooker.
