Suitable surfaces

Smooth, dry, clean surface, primed (primer) and with one or two coats of paint. Please wait a minimum of 15 days before installing on a freshly painted surface.

Surfaces to avoid

Dirty, moldy, or dusty surface. Textured, damaged, or peeling surface. It is not recommended to install directly on brick, wood, drywall, primer, or plaster.

1. Wall preparation

The wall must be clean, dry, smooth, and free of dust and moisture. For optimal results, the wall should be a light and uniform color.

Turn off power to electrical outlets in the room and remove wall plates. Remove any objects hanging on the wall.

  • New construction: wipe walls to remove dust and apply a primer (according to manufacturer's recommendations).
  • Existing construction: thoroughly clean the surface to remove dirt and grease. Remove old wallpaper and peeling paint before washing with water and a degreaser. Fill cracks and holes with filler and sand down irregularities.
  • Moisture: the wall should not be exposed to moisture. Apply a solvent-free primer to absorbent walls. Only install the covering on completely dry walls to avoid discoloration and ensure optimal adhesion.

2. Adhesive

Use a non-woven wallpaper adhesive (e.g., Romans Pro 838 or Metyl Special) with the addition of 20% dispersion adhesive. The recommended average amount is ± 200 g/m² (follow adhesive manufacturer's instructions).

* Special wallpaper adhesive, not sold by Décor Imprimé.

3. Quality check

Lay out the panels on the floor, printed side up, in numerical order (left to right). Check for printing defects, accuracy of total width, and alignment of patterns between panels.

Important: in case of manufacturing defect, contact us before proceeding with installation.

4. Product installation

  1. Apply adhesive to the wall over a width of 1 to 3 strips/drops using a medium nap roller.
  2. Roll up the strip and place the top against the glued wall. Unroll downwards and smooth evenly with the included application spatula and a rubber roller (for seams/overlaps).
  3. Use a level or laser to ensure the first panel is perfectly straight. Do not rely on wall corners or the ceiling.
  4. Overlap: install the next strip overlapping the previous one by 0.5 inch. Press firmly with the spatula and rubber roller.
  5. Double cut: using a ruler and a new blade, cut both layers of paper in the center of the overlap. Remove the excess from the top layer, then slightly lift the edge to remove the cut strip from underneath. Fold back the edges for a perfect side-by-side seam.

Double cut demonstration video coming soon.

Finishing

Push out air bubbles by pressing from the center outwards with the included plastic spatula.

Trim excess material at the top and bottom with a sharp retractable knife.

Immediately remove any stains or excess adhesive with a clean, damp sponge or cloth (water only). Then wipe with a dry cloth.

Use a rubber seam roller to firmly press the overlaps.

Carefully cut around electrical outlets and reinstall plates.
