Decor and the pandemic: How to integrate a work environment at home
Author: Arianne Daoust-Hébert
Working from home, which was not very common before 2020, has now become a reality for many of us.
To stay motivated and focused, it’s important to have a dedicated workspace. No more working on the corner of the counter or at the dining room table! In this article, you will find tips for setting up a workspace at home.
1- Define your space
It is sometimes not possible to reserve an entire room for your office. In this situation, it can be interesting to set up your workspace in a dedicated corner of your home. If your office is in the living room or your bedroom, visually define the space. For example, use a rug, wallpaper, or wall decor.
Our favorite idea:
Why not set up your office in a closet? This trick allows you to have a dedicated space and also to close the door on the weekend to truly disconnect from work!
2- Make the space inviting
We spend several hours a week working. It is therefore essential that our workspace is welcoming, warm, and conducive to concentration.
To do this, choose a bright space, for example near a window. If that's not possible, install lights.
Also, prioritize light-colored furniture and colorful decoration. Nothing is more stimulating than a workspace with bright colors!
3- Have the right furniture
We spend almost as much time on our mattress as in our office chair. It is therefore very important to choose a quality chair. A good chair allows for proper adjustment, meaning in terms of seat height and armrests.
Furthermore, your desk should be at the right height for you. If you work with a laptop, consider raising your computer so that your neck remains straight. If you can, get a desk that allows you to work standing up.
Happy working!
