May Artist of the Month: Marie-Eve Turgeon

This month, we were excited to introduce you to an artist who, in our opinion, deserves to be much better known.

Although Marie-Eve Turgeon has been an artist since she was very young, it wasn't until her thirties that she left her career as an artisan baker to live from her art full time. Living in the Laurentians, her illustrations draw heavily on the forest and nature that surround her.

Illustrations that make you think

An outspoken woman proud of her convictions, Marie-Eve uses her art to share messages of hope and to pay tribute to the women who inspire her. She has a real talent for illustrating difficult, timely subjects in a soft and fluid way.

She frequently launches challenges during which she shares one illustration a week. For example, the #52femmes project, during which she shared the portrait of one woman every week throughout 2020.

The arch takes center stage for spring

When we approached Marie-Eve, it made perfect sense to launch her collection in spring, right at the start of the warm season. Since she works with pastel colours, floral elements and plenty of transparency and flow, it was clear her collection needed to come out before summer.

Then, to our delight, Marie-Eve suggested creating arch-shaped wall decals, a bit like our existing Paul product, but featuring flowers and other illustrations inside. She hit the nail right on the head, since it was something we had wanted to introduce for quite some time.

Her collection is therefore made up mostly of arch- and circle-shaped wall decals, all decorated with lovely flowers, birds and landscapes. They're perfect for adding a splash of colour and life to a small space or a forgotten corner of your home.

Her collection also includes wallpaper patterns, some colourful, some monochrome. We especially love her technical skill, which means her patterns show almost no visible repeat.
